History of Halali

In the 18th century, Dost Mohammad Khan’s forces killed a rival Rajput force near Jagdishpur (later renamed to Islamnagar) on the bank of the river. About the Fort

Until the 16th century, the fort was under the hegemony of the Rajputs and other Hindu rulers. Although the nawabs of Bhopal initially captured the fort, it is presently under the custody of ASI.

History of Raisen Fort

Raisen fort was under the control of Hindu rulers including Rajputs till 16th century. In 1543, the fort was captured by Sher Shah Suri and later by Nawab of Bhopal in 1760. Raisen fort was then under the control of princely state of Bhopal till Indian Independence (1947).

Origin of the Raisen Fort

The origin of the Raisen fort dates back to the 1200 AD. With four palaces (Badal Mahal, Rohini Mahal, Itradaan Mahal & Hawa Mahal) within its boundaries, the mighty fort also houses a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The doors of the temple open every year on the occasion of Shivratri. Many people gather here to take blessings of the lord shiva.

Bhimbetka the Rock shelters , having paintings of early men

Bhimbetka, said to be 30,000 years old have around 750 rocks where 500 rocks have paintings on the rocks. It is between the forests 45 km south from Bhopal. The natural red and the white colors ,were the natural colors which has saved them from pigmentation.There are figures and scene dances across the rocks of gaur (Indian bison), rhinoceroses, elephants and tigers share space with scenes of hunting, battle, initiation ceremonies, childbirth, communal dancing, drinking, religious rites and burials. The oldest paintings, in red are often of huge animals which are thought to be 12,000 years old. The name Bhimbetka means resting place of Bhima, Bhima is from the epic Mahabharata.

Various stone tools were used to carve the paintings on the rocks here at Bhimbetka such as hand-axes and cleavers.Many other tools found here include triangles, trapezes, blades, crescents.These tools do not belong to any one era but range from Lower Paleolithic to Upper Paleolithic to Mesolithic periods.This place Bhimbetka is under Archaeological Survey Of India,and the painting still have not faded after thousand of years .The rock art is divided into many groups on their basis of style and subject . The paintings tell that the different people used same canvas that time of era .

Bhojpur is a town of historical and religious importance in the Raisen District of Madhya Pradesh and is a center of attraction in between people around this place and the Central India. The temple here well known as Bhojeshwar Temple, is an incomplete temple of Lord Shiva, the linga is 7.5 feet (2.5 m) high in its Sanctum. It is crafted out of single rock and the building is under the Archaeological Survey of India.

Historical Importance

The name Bhojpur of the place corroborates its association with Bhoja. The temple is believed to have been constructed by the 11 th century Parmara King Bhoja. Tradition also attributes to him the establishment of Bhojpur and the construction of now -breached dams here in the area.There is no archaeological evidence from Bhojpur before the eleventh century .The Building Of Bhojpur Temple where the Linga is , in the inner cell or Garbhagrah , supported by massive pillars , surmounted by an elegant corbelled dome . The outer walls and structure of the temple was never build.
